THE ADVENTURES OF A TRAVELING LIBRARY LADY
The library is an arena of possibility, opening both a window into the soul and a door onto the world. —Rita Dove
Let the adventure begin!
“First of all, let me get something straight: This is a BLOG, not a diary. – (Diary of a Whimpy Kid reference)
Receiving the Curtis School Educational Travel Fellowship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I plan to use this grant to become a better librarian and advocate for students. As an educator, I learned the importance of educators fostering curiosity, exploration, and creativity. These are the three teaching practices I strive to become knowledgeable in through the travel fellowship. The first half of my trip is an archeological dig in Tuscany. During this leg of the journey, I plan to explore the importance of curiosity and exploration in the research process. The second half of the trip will explore how to better foster creativity in students by studying storytellers, artists, activists, and museums in England and Paris. This portion of the trip will allow me to bring back new ideas, concepts, and ways of thinking to nurture creativity better.
